Over the years, Hunters Solutions Ltd has been involved in a number of local, and
national, charities raising money for various good causes.
Next year Mark Hunt, managing director and owner of Hunters, will take part in a gruelling ultra-marathon event held in the desert, in order to raise £10,000 for Mencap UK.
The Marathon de Sables sees competitors run 150 miles (the equivalent of over five and a half marathons), over 6 days, through the Sahara desert.
Carrying nothing but the most basic survival kit in a backpack, runners have to cope with temperatures of up to 50°C (that’s over 100°F) as they navigate their own way from checkpoint to checkpoint.
For those that make the finish line, there is the satisfaction of knowing that they have survived one of the toughest endurance events in the world, and that they have joined a very elite club.
More than that though, Mark knows that by finishing and achieving his target of rasing £10,000, he'll be helping to provide a better quality of life for those with learning difficulties.
